As with Weddings, Commitment Ceremonies, Memorial Services and Celebrations of Life, not all people are of any particular faith or religion but still wish to christen their newborn(s). While most “baptisms” must be performed in a Catholic church, or by a Catholic priest, many parents still wish to select godparents for their newborn(s) or adopted baby, in the event should something happen to them. This is normally known as a “Welcoming”, “Baby Naming” or a “Christening”, which can be officiated by any celebrant of any faith or religion.
I have been fortunate to have performed such a service on many newborns for several of the couples that I have married, including christening a baby during his parent's wedding ceremony. I would be very happy to help guide you as well should you wish to have your newborn(s), or adopted child christened. In my past experiences, the parents reserved a private venue, be it indoors or out, and invited family and friends to attend the celebration. This is very much like a baptism, where the officiant / celebrant, parents, newborn(s), and godparents to be named, participate in the ceremony, while your guests witness the event.
