| GOOD HARBOR BEACH, GLOUCESTER, MASSACHUSETTS AUGUST 5, 2007 |
| While every single ceremony that I have officiated over has been a unique, special, and rewarding experience, this particular wedding took my breath away. It was held on an extremely hot summer day at Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester. The gorgeous set-up was the works of the Elks at Bass Lodge’s florist (Not to mention how clean the beach was!). The reception took place at the Elks after the ceremony. Before the ceremony, all of the guests parked at the Elks and hopped on a bus arranged by the bride and groom to bring them to Good Harbor Beach (Which was two minutes down the road.). They had several guests, so the bus driver made three trips. Upon arriving at Good Harbor, we discovered the beach was packed with people. However, as soon as they saw us approaching, they were extremely respectful to the wedding party and their guests. As a matter of fact, the sun was no longer important! Everyone turned their beach chairs around to face us. It was hysterical and totally awesome. The bride and groom were a bit concerned, but as soon as I saw that, I just knew that everyone would be respectful to what was taking place. And they were. The only sounds that you heard were young children and sea gulls. It was just beautiful. Upon pronouncing them as husband and wife, the whole beach clapped along with the wedding guests. It was also the very first ceremony that I have ever performed in bare feet! All of us were dressed very formally, while everyone else on the beach had bathing suits on. The sand was so clean that almost all of the women attending the ceremony took off their shoes. This is one ceremony that I will definitely remember for the rest of my life. |
